Kansas State’s top 3-point threat, key player , a 6-foot-7, 175-pound guard, is leaving the Wildcats after one season to continue his college basketball career elsewhere.
Last year, Bashir connected on 44.4% of his 3-pointers, averaging 13.2 points and 1.9 rebounds per game while making 67 triples on 151 attempts. Originally recruited from Monmouth, where he averaged 20.1 points and 127 3-pointers as a sophomore, Bashir showed his shooting prowess in the Big 12 but battled injuries, missing the final 14 games with a broken foot as K-State finished with 12 wins.
He posted a season-high 26 points, including seven 3-pointers, against Nebraska and scored at least 15 points in eight other games.
Bashir’s transfer comes amid coaching changes—Jerome Tang, who recruited him, was fired, and new coach Casey Alexander anticipates roster turnover in his first season.
With one year of eligibility left, Bashir remains one of the nation’s top shooters, though defensive concerns linger. He is the fourth K-State player to declare a transfer since the Big 12 Tournament ended.
