Kansas State continues to make noise on the recruiting trail — and their latest pickup might be one of the most exciting yet.
On Tuesday, the Wildcats secured a commitment from Wolfe City (Texas) running back HD Davis, a hard-hitting, high-motor back who lit up the Texas high school football scene with a jaw-dropping junior campaign. Davis rushed for an eye-popping 2,789 yards and 33 touchdowns on 267 carries last fall, making him one of the most productive backs in the state — and a nightmare for opposing defenses.
Despite his record-setting numbers, Davis flew under the radar of some national scouting services and remains unrated by 247Sports. But Kansas State didn’t need stars to see the star potential.

The 6-foot, 205-pound All-State selection blends downhill power with sneaky burst and elite balance — traits that made him nearly impossible to stop at the second level. He was named District Offensive MVP for his dominant play in 2023.
Davis made his commitment public via social media following an official visit to Manhattan over the weekend. “Beyond excited to announce my commitment to Kansas State! Can’t wait to join the Wildcat family!” he posted on X, signaling a major recruiting win for the Wildcats over programs like Air Force, Navy, Yale, Rice, and Tulsa.
Kansas State first extended an offer in February and maintained steady contact through the spring. Davis visited campus earlier in the year, but it was this past weekend’s official trip that sealed the deal. The Texas standout is now the second running back in K-State’s 2026 class, joining 3-star athlete Tanner West from Katy, Texas.
And the timing couldn’t be better.
With Dylan Edwards and Joe Jackson poised to lead the Wildcats’ backfield in 2025, and Georgia Tech transfer Antonio Martin Jr. adding key depth, Kansas State is already preparing for a smooth transition into the next era. The program is fresh off a 9–4 season, capped by a thrilling 44–41 bowl victory over Rutgers, and just watched star running back DJ Giddens get selected in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts following back-to-back 1,200-yard seasons.
HD Davis may not be a household name just yet — but if his past performance is any indication, Kansas State fans might soon be watching the next great Wildcat take flight in the backfield.
