The Cincinnati Reds reinstated rookie flamethrower Chase Burns and fellow right-hander Graham Ashcraft from the 15-day injured list on Thursday.

Burns Returns After Elbow Strain

Burns, 22, last pitched on Aug. 8 against the Pittsburgh Pirates before being sidelined with a Grade 1 flexor strain in his right elbow. The rookie is 0–3 with a 5.24 ERA over eight starts and has recorded 10 strikeouts in four of his last five outings.

Ashcraft, 27, had been out since Aug. 24 with a right forearm strain. In his fourth season with Cincinnati, he holds an 8–5 record and a 3.72 ERA across 53 relief appearances.

To clear roster space, the Reds optioned right-handers Lyon Richardson (0–3, 4.54 ERA) and Yosver Zulueta (1–0, 6.14 ERA) to Triple-A Louisville following Wednesday’s 2–1 win in San Diego.
