The Philadelphia Phillies have officially added former Texas Rangers outfielder Adolis García to their roster, aiming to fill the void left by Nick Castellanos. The move, announced on Tuesday, brings a proven postseason performer to Philadelphia on a one-year deal.
García, who helped lead the Rangers to a 2023 World Series title with eight playoff home runs and a 1.108 OPS, was a two-time All-Star, ALCS MVP, and Gold Glove winner. Though his production dipped in recent seasons—posting a 98 OPS+ in 2024 and 93 OPS+ in 2025—Phillies management believes he can regain some of his former form.
“García hasn’t matched his 2023 success in the last two seasons, but he’s a right-handed hitter with power potential and a strong arm,” said Destiny Lugardo of Phillies Nation. “Signing him to a one-year deal made sense. We hope he can provide stability and production as our starting right fielder.”
At 32 years old, García won’t command a massive contract, but the Phillies see him as a low-risk, high-upside addition for the upcoming season.
