MAJOR-BOOST: South Carolina Gamecocks Win Major Commitment of Prep All-American Offensive Lineman, Edging Out Clemson

The South Carolina Gamecocks have landed a major recruiting coup, securing the commitment of Prep All-American offensive tackle Maxwell Hiller of Coatesville, Pennsylvania. One of the top offensive line prospects in the nation, Hiller chose the Gamecocks over a host of elite programs, including Clemson, Penn State, Georgia, Ohio State, and Alabama.

Hiller, a 6-foot-6, 300-pound standout, was recently named a First Team All-American by The Sporting News, underscoring his elite status. His commitment gives South Carolina a cornerstone player for its offensive line and strengthens the team’s roster for the coming seasons.

Despite a midseason coaching change, the Gamecocks successfully maintained their relationship with Hiller. Newly hired offensive line coach Randy Clements, who replaced Lonnie Teasley, quickly established strong communication with the top recruit, helping secure the pledge. Hiller noted that he felt welcomed and confident in the program, citing his comfort with the campus, coaching staff, and team culture as key factors in his decision.

While Clemson remained a formidable competitor in the recruitment, Hiller praised South Carolina’s environment and the vision laid out by head coach Shane Beamer as decisive in his choice. “South Carolina made me feel at home every time I visited, and I believe in the direction of the program and the coaching staff,” Hiller said.

Hiller’s addition represents a significant win for the Gamecocks, both in talent and in the ongoing rivalry with Clemson. His combination of size, athleticism, and technique projects him as a player capable of making an immediate impact on the field and developing into a future NFL prospect.

The commitment also signals momentum for South Carolina’s recruiting class, as Beamer and his staff continue to target high-level talent to elevate the program’s competitiveness in the SEC. Hiller is expected to enroll with the Gamecocks and compete early in his college career, anchoring the offensive line for years to come.
