Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead indicated he would take a more aggressive approach this offseason if quarterback Matthew Stafford returned for another year, and the team has already made a major move before free agency begins.
According to multiple reports, the Rams have agreed to acquire All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs. In the deal, Los Angeles will send the No. 29 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft along with additional selections in 2026 and 2027.
During his four seasons in the NFL, McDuffie has built an impressive résumé, earning both first-team and second-team All-Pro honors. The former first-round pick has recorded three interceptions, 34 pass breakups, 5.5 sacks, and eight forced fumbles throughout his career.
At 25 years old, McDuffie addresses a significant need for the Rams’ secondary. Several of the team’s cornerbacks are approaching free agency, and veteran Darious Williams could also be released this offseason.

McDuffie not only fills that gap but also provides a major talent upgrade with the versatility to play both outside corner and in the slot depending on matchups.

Snead recently noted that the team had been evaluating players whose contracts are expiring or who might become available around the league, hinting that moves like this could be coming.
McDuffie, who previously starred at St. John Bosco High School, is entering the final season of his rookie contract but is expected to sign a long-term extension with the Rams. Even after trading multiple draft picks in the deal, Los Angeles still holds seven selections in the 2026 draft, including a valuable first-round pick from the Atlanta Falcons at No. 13 overall. 🏈
