Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies are bolstering their running back room just two weeks ahead of spring practices with the addition of seasoned tailback Trey Cooley.
Cooley, a 5-foot-10, 208-pound back, spent last season at Troy after earlier stops at Georgia Tech and Louisville, though he missed all of 2025 due to a knee injury.

With one year of eligibility remaining, he brings valuable experience to a young UW backfield tasked with replacing former leaders Jonah Coleman and Adam Mohammed.
A standout at Knightdale High in North Carolina, Cooley was a 247Sports four-star recruit and ranked among the top running backs nationally in the 2021 class.
At Louisville, he rushed for 431 yards and a touchdown in 12 games as a freshman, adding 12 receptions for 173 yards and two scores, but injuries limited his sophomore season to just seven games.
After transferring to Georgia Tech, Cooley added 274 yards on 64 carries with three touchdowns in 12 games but also struggled with three fumbles.
He then moved to Troy in 2025 but suffered a season-ending knee injury before the first game. Across four seasons at Louisville and Georgia Tech, Cooley averaged 4.7 yards per carry and excelled as a pass blocker, surrendering only eight pressures in 82 snaps.
At Washington, Cooley joins a young backfield that includes sophomore Jordan Washington, redshirt freshmen Quaid Carr and Julian McMahan, plus incoming freshmen Ansu Sanoe and Brian Bonner.
Following the earlier addition of veteran Jayden Limar, Cooley provides yet another experienced option and leadership presence for the Huskies’ young tailbacks heading into 2026.
