Blockbuster swap: San Diego Padres CONFIRM SHOCK BLOCKBUSTER REPLACEMENT MOVE for Jeremiah Estrada in Stunning Bullpen Twist

Through Tuesday, the Padres’ bullpen led all MLB teams in Wins Above Replacement at 1.4, while their outfield ranked near the bottom at 28th, highlighting a clear imbalance in their roster.

That disparity makes a potential trade deadline approach logical, with discussions centering on a reliever-for-outfielder swap to address San Diego’s biggest weakness.

On ESPN’s “Baseball Tonight” podcast, Paul Hembikides floated a possible deal involving sending right-handed reliever Jeremiah Estrada to the Yankees in exchange for outfielder Jasson Dominguez.

Dominguez, currently sidelined with a shoulder injury, is a switch-hitter with experience in center field and is blocked in New York by a crowded outfield group.

While his left-handed numbers have lagged, he has shown stronger production from the right side and carries significant prospect pedigree, along with experience on big stages.

In return, Estrada has developed into one of San Diego’s most reliable bullpen arms after limited early career action, posting strong strikeout numbers and a 3.27 ERA across more than 150 appearances with the Padres.

He could immediately bolster a Yankees bullpen that has struggled badly, with both their closer and top setup options posting ERAs above 5.00 and no proven late-inning replacement available.

San Diego also has internal outfield depth in Triple-A, but those options remain unproven at the major league level and may not be enough for a playoff push.

With aggressive front office leadership, the Padres are expected to explore multiple trade possibilities, but this type of bullpen-for-outfield swap stands out as a realistic and logical deadline framework.
