The Philadelphia Phillies began a home series against the Chicago White Sox on Friday fresh off a 6-4 win over the San Diego Padres.
While the club continues its push in the National League East, it also made an unexpected move involving right-handed pitcher Bryse Wilson.
Just days after parting ways with Wilson, the Phillies have brought him back on a new minor-league contract.
The veteran pitcher had exercised an opt-out clause in his previous deal, prompting his release from the organization earlier in the week despite spending the season with Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
The reunion happened quickly, as reports confirmed Wilson re-signed with Philadelphia and immediately returned to the IronPigs’ rotation.

He was scheduled to start for Triple-A on Friday night, giving the organization another opportunity to evaluate his progress.
Several reporters and team insiders confirmed the move, noting that Wilson had rejoined Lehigh Valley shortly after testing the open market.
The decision suggests both sides remained interested in continuing their partnership despite the brief separation.
Wilson, 28, has accumulated eight seasons of major league experience with the Atlanta Braves, Pittsburgh Pirates, Milwaukee Brewers, and Chicago White Sox.
Across 163 MLB appearances, he owns a 20-23 record with a 4.82 ERA.
If Wilson can produce strong results in Triple-A, he could eventually emerge as a depth option for Philadelphia’s pitching staff later this season.
Meanwhile, the Phillies enter the weekend with a 33-29 record, sitting second in the NL East after winning seven of their last ten games. Following the White Sox series, they will head north to face the Toronto Blue Jays.
