On Friday night, the Philadelphia Phillies begin a series against the Milwaukee Brewers in Wisconsin after recently earning a 7-4 win over the Toronto Blue Jays, continuing their improved run of form.
However, their momentum took a hit with a 6-0 loss.

In roster news, former Phillies utility player Weston Wilson became a free agent after being designated for assignment by the Baltimore Orioles.
The 31-year-old is hitting .231 this season with nine hits, one home run, three RBIs, six runs scored, and two stolen bases across 19 games.

According to MLB.com’s Jake Rill, Wilson cleared outright waivers but opted for free agency instead of accepting a Triple-A assignment with Norfolk.

Wilson, originally a 17th-round pick in the 2016 MLB Draft, began his big league career with Philadelphia and appeared in 119 MLB games overall, batting .240 with 10 home runs, 32 RBIs, 39 runs, and 10 stolen bases.

He was recently removed from Baltimore’s roster after the team needed to make space, with Rill noting the Orioles adjusted their catching depth following an injury concern.

Looking ahead, Wilson could still find another opportunity in the majors before season’s end, potentially as a depth signing.
Meanwhile, the Phillies sit at 37-31 and remain in second place in the NL East, while the Orioles are 33-37 and fourth in the AL East.
