The Philadelphia Phillies placed outfielder Adolis García on the 60-day injured list Friday due to a right latissimus dorsi tear.
To fill roster spots, the team made several outfield-related moves: they recalled Gabriel Rincones Jr. from Triple-A Lehigh Valley, placed Steward Berroa on the paternity list, and activated Derek Hill, who joined the club after being acquired from the Chicago White Sox on Thursday.
García suffered the injury during Wednesday’s 7-4 win over the Toronto Blue Jays.

After making a catch in right field and attempting a strong throw home to prevent George Springer from scoring on a sacrifice tag, he immediately showed discomfort in his right shoulder area and left the game after being evaluated by trainers, with Berroa taking his place.

Signed to a one-year, $10 million deal in the offseason, García has struggled offensively this year, batting .195 with seven home runs and 21 RBIs across 67 games.
Over his career, the 33-year-old owns a .234 average with 148 home runs and 480 RBIs in 833 games for the St. Louis Cardinals, Texas Rangers, and Phillies.

Hill, 30, arrives after hitting .213 with four homers and eight RBIs in 50 games for the White Sox this season as part of a trade that sent him and $250,000 in international bonus pool money to Philadelphia in exchange for prospects Dylan Campbell and José Colmenares.

Rincones, 25, has hit .239 in Triple-A this year and ranks as the Phillies’ No. 6 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, while Berroa has appeared in six games this season, going 1-for-7.
