The Philadelphia Phillies have added another veteran option to their organization, agreeing to a Minor League contract with outfielder Tommy Pham, according to a source cited by MLB.com.
The move, which was first reported by ESPN’s Jorge Castillo, has not yet been officially announced by the club.
Pham is expected to report to Triple-A Lehigh Valley and will have an opt-out clause that allows him to seek another opportunity if he is not promoted to the Major League roster by July 25.
The 38-year-old opened the 2026 season with the New York Mets but struggled at the plate, going hitless in 13 at-bats with seven strikeouts before being designated for assignment in late April.

He later joined the Baltimore Orioles organization on a Minor League deal but was released in June after batting .197 with four home runs in 16 games for Triple-A Norfolk.
Despite those recent struggles, Pham brings extensive Major League experience. Last season with the Pittsburgh Pirates, he hit .245 with 10 home runs, 52 RBIs, and a .700 OPS across 120 games.
Over a 13-year career spanning 10 different teams, he owns a .256 batting average, a .344 on-base percentage, and a .421 slugging percentage.

The signing comes as Philadelphia continues searching for reliable outfield depth. The position became an even greater concern after right fielder Adolis García suffered a season-ending injury earlier this month.
Since then, the Phillies have acquired Derek Hill and promoted top prospect Gabriel Rincones Jr., but consistent offensive production from the outfield has remained elusive.

Rincones has struggled during his first taste of the majors, while Hill has provided a spark since arriving from the Chicago White Sox.
Philadelphia has largely relied on platoon combinations featuring Hill, Edmundo Sosa, Rincones, and Justin Crawford alongside Brandon Marsh.
Entering Sunday, Phillies outfielders ranked near the bottom of Major League Baseball with a .679 OPS, and outside of Marsh, the group’s offensive numbers have been particularly disappointing.
The addition of Pham gives the organization another experienced option as it looks to strengthen a position that has become one of its biggest weaknesses.
