Rangers Lose Jalen Beeks for Season, Place Jakob Junis on Injured List
The Texas Rangers suffered a significant setback to their bullpen after left-handed reliever Jalen Beeks was diagnosed with a flexor tendon injury that will require surgery, ending his 2026 season.
According to reports, Beeks had been sidelined since June 10 with lower back spasms and was nearing a return to the active roster before doctors discovered the more serious arm injury.
While a recovery timetable will become clearer after the procedure, he will not pitch again this season.

Beeks signed a one-year, $1.6 million contract with Texas during the offseason and earned a spot on the Opening Day roster.
The veteran appeared in 29 games for the Rangers, posting a 3.81 ERA across 26 innings while also earning performance bonuses during the year.
Although he provided solid results, Beeks struggled with home runs, surrendering six long balls in limited work.
His overall production, however, remained largely consistent with what he has delivered throughout his major league career.
The injury comes at a difficult time for the soon-to-be 33-year-old, who now faces a lengthy rehabilitation process that could affect his free-agent market this winter.
Junis Also Lands on Injured List
Texas also announced that right-hander Jakob Junis was placed on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to July 1, because of a hip impingement.
The club is optimistic that treatment, combined with the upcoming All-Star break, will allow him to return shortly after the season resumes.
Junis has been one of the Rangers’ most dependable relievers in 2026 after signing a one-year, $4 million deal during the offseason.
Through 31 appearances and 35⅓ innings, he has recorded a 2.80 ERA while showcasing elite control and limiting hard contact.
Chris Martin Returns
In a corresponding move, veteran reliever Chris Martin was activated from the 15-day injured list. The Rangers are hoping the 40-year-old can help stabilize the bullpen, though injuries have limited him this season.
Martin has spent time on the injured list twice because of shoulder issues and has posted a 7.84 ERA in just 10⅓ innings.
If he can return to form, however, he could provide much-needed depth for a bullpen that has suddenly been hit by multiple injuries.
With Beeks out for the year and Junis temporarily sidelined, Texas may place an even greater emphasis on adding bullpen help before the trade deadline.
