With the NHL Draft Lottery just days away, the Boston Bruins aren’t waiting for fate to decide their future. Despite entering the draw with only an 8.5% chance at landing the No. 1 overall pick, the franchise has already made major waves by confirming the signing of four of the seven elite prospects they were reportedly targeting this summer.
Boston, which finished with the fifth-worst record in the league, has clearly opted for aggressive pre-draft maneuvering to stay competitive in a conference dominated by powerhouses like the Rangers and Panthers. The front office has wasted no time locking in key pieces — and the names are turning heads across the NHL.
Among the confirmed additions is Michael Misa, the generational forward out of Saginaw (OHL), who torched the league with 62 goals and 134 points this season. Boston has been desperate for a future top-line center, and Misa’s combination of skill, vision, and clutch scoring fills that void perfectly.

Also confirmed is Matthew Schaefer, the most NHL-ready defenseman in this class and a player many project as a future franchise anchor on the blue line. While defense wasn’t Boston’s top need, Schaefer’s upside was too great to pass up.

Joining them are Caleb Desnoyers, the dynamic two-way center from Moncton who dominated

the QMJHL this season, and Anton Frondell, the Swedish sniper with a heavy shot and international pedigree.
This aggressive strategy not only gives the Bruins a promising young core — it signals a new era. With top-tier talent already secured and three remaining prospects still in play, the Bruins are setting themselves up to re-emerge as a serious contender far sooner than expected.
Where they land in Monday’s draft lottery could add even more firepower to a rebuild that suddenly looks more like a reload.
