MAJOR BREAKING: Tigers Make Bold Offseason Splash, Add Versatile Guard To Ignite Backcourt Revival

The Missouri Tigers women’s basketball team has officially bolstered its roster with the addition of former Pepperdine guard Chloe Sotell. The rising sophomore announced her commitment to Mizzou via social media earlier this week, and the program confirmed the signing shortly after.

Sotell becomes the seventh player to join the Tigers through the transfer portal this offseason, further reshaping a roster that is clearly being built for immediate impact.

Sotell arrives in Columbia after a standout freshman campaign at Pepperdine, where she led her team in scoring with 10.6 points per game and contributed across the board with 3.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.2 steals. Her performance earned her a spot on the West Coast Conference All-Freshman Team and drew national attention from programs seeking experienced young talent with high ceilings.

Missouri head coach Kellie Harper, entering a new phase of the program’s development, had hinted at a major addition on social media days before the official announcement.

With Sotell’s commitment, the Tigers now have a stacked backcourt featuring nine guards, giving Harper multiple options for up-tempo, guard-driven lineups. Sotell’s size, versatility, and scoring ability make her a strong candidate to earn meaningful minutes from day one.

Standing 6 feet tall, Sotell provides both length and skill at the guard position. Known for her court vision and ability to create off the dribble, she adds an important element to Missouri’s offense. Her ability to defend multiple positions will also be valuable in a deep SEC, where physicality and adaptability are critical to success.

Originally from Stamford, Connecticut, Sotell played high school basketball at national powerhouse Montverde Academy before making her mark at the collegiate level.

Her basketball pedigree includes a family background steeped in the sport, adding to the poise and leadership she has shown on and off the court. Her transfer to Missouri represents a major opportunity to elevate her game on a larger stage.

As Missouri gears up for the upcoming season, the addition of Sotell is expected to play a key role in the team’s transformation. With her blend of experience, potential, and production, she is poised to become a core contributor to a Tigers team that is aiming for a bounce-back campaign in the always-competitive Southeastern Conference.
