BREAKING: Yankees Make Surprise Move, Land Phillies’ Star Veteran as Aaron Judge’s Power-Hitting Sidekick in Huge Deal

The New York Yankees may explore a pursuit of Philadelphia Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber as he approaches free agency. Despite Aaron Judge’s historic production, the Yankees have yet to consistently surround him with top-tier offensive talent. They missed out on stars like Bryce Harper and Manny Machado in 2019 and couldn’t retain Juan Soto after his brief stint in New York.

That said, the team hasn’t been idle—adding veterans such as Cody Bellinger, Paul Goldschmidt, and previously Anthony Rizzo, while also banking on homegrown players like Anthony Volpe, Austin Wells, and Jasson Dominguez to contribute regularly.

Schwarber’s Appeal to New York

With Schwarber potentially entering free agency after the 2025 season, he represents the kind of powerful left-handed bat that could thrive in Yankee Stadium. Peter Chawaga of Sporting News notes Schwarber’s consistent offensive production since joining the Phillies in 2022, and even former Phillies executive Ruben Amaro Jr. speculated he’d be a strong fit in New York.

“How many home runs would he hit at Yankee Stadium?” Amaro asked, implying that Schwarber’s pull-heavy power could flourish in the Bronx.

Obstacles to a Deal

Chawaga also highlights the potential challenges in acquiring Schwarber, notably the expected contract terms. ESPN’s Jeff Passan recently reported that Schwarber could command $25 million per year over four years. This price tag might still fall within New York’s financial reach, particularly if they see value in pairing him with Judge for the latter’s prime years.

However, Schwarber’s limitations—such as his declining defense, reliance on home runs, and high strikeout totals—could complicate his fit, especially with Giancarlo Stanton already filling the designated hitter role. That said, if the Phillies let him walk, the Yankees are likely to be among the first teams to show serious interest.
