Breaking: Kansas State Wildcats Make a Splash in the Transfer Portal, Landing Elite 2026 MVC Player of the Year and Top Shooter to Bolster Offense

Belmont’s head coach has moved to Manhattan, Kansas, and star guard Tyler Lundblade has entered the transfer portal.

While it’s unclear if he’s targeting Kansas State Wildcats, his familiarity with Coach Casey Alexander’s high-powered offense makes the Wildcats a logical contender.

Lundblade, named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year in 2026, averaged 16 points, 2 assists, 3 rebounds, and hit 41% of 283 three-point attempts, following a 48% three-point mark in 2025.

He began his college career at SMU as a legacy walk-on in 2021-22, earned a mid-season scholarship but redshirted, then transferred to TCU, where he saw limited action in 15 games over two seasons.

Seeking more opportunity, he moved to Belmont under Alexander, immediately excelling: 47% from three (5th nationally), 70.9% true shooting (2nd), and 68.1% effective field goal percentage (4th), earning First Team All-MVC honors.

In 2026, his efficiency dipped slightly due to higher volume, but he still posted a 64% true shooting percentage (73rd nationally) and ranked 2nd nationally in free-throw percentage at 93%.

While not a lockdown defender, he’s serviceable on the wing and remains one of the best shooters available in the portal.

His best path forward would be a system like Alexander’s, where he can play freely—unlike former Belmont transfer Cade Tyson, who spent a wasted year on North Carolina’s bench before thriving at Minnesota.

With just one season of eligibility left, Lundblade can’t afford to sit out, and Kansas State could offer him the ideal fit to showcase his talent while kickstarting the Alexander era.
