The Philadelphia Phillies have gotten off to a rough start in the 2026 season, and with championship expectations in place, the organization has already begun making roster adjustments.

On Saturday, April 18, the Phillies promoted 25-year-old outfielder Felix Reyes from Triple-A Lehigh Valley while optioning Otto Kemp back to the minors in a corresponding move.
Reyes brings defensive versatility, having played multiple positions throughout his minor league career, including all three outfield spots as well as first and third base.
Despite that flexibility, Reyes faces a crowded path to regular playing time in Philadelphia, with established starters like Bryce Harper at first base, Alec Bohm at third, Brandon Marsh in left field, and Adolis García in right.
Instead, he is expected to serve as a bench option alongside Dylan Moore and Edmundo Sosa, likely seeing action in corner outfield roles and as depth behind Harper.

Reyes earned his promotion thanks to strong production in Triple-A, where he has been hitting .333 with a 1.000 OPS, along with six home runs and 15 RBIs in just 18 games.
His hot start builds on an impressive 2024 season in Double-A, where he showcased both power and speed while hitting over .330.
Meanwhile, Otto Kemp heads back to Triple-A after struggling early in 2026, managing just two hits in limited action and posting negative value at the major league level.
Although he showed flashes of power and strong underlying metrics last season, his recent slump prompted the Phillies to make the switch.
Kemp has previously found success in Lehigh Valley, and the organization is hopeful he can rediscover that form and work his way back to the big league roster later in the season.
