Tennessee Volunteers football continued its push to lock down in-state talent Monday, securing a commitment from 3-star defensive back Brandon Leavell out of Madisonville, Tennessee.
The talented prospect chose the Vols over programs like Florida Gators football and Clemson Tigers football, with his announcement coming only hours after Tennessee target Jarrell Chandler committed to Clemson.
Leavell, who attends Goodpasture Christian School, brings impressive versatility at 6-foot-2 and 170 pounds. A standout multi-sport athlete, he competes in basketball and track while starring on both sides of the football as a wide receiver and defensive back.
Last season, Leavell recorded 35 catches for 735 yards and 12 touchdowns offensively while also snagging four interceptions on defense, though many project him as a future safety at Tennessee.
According to 247Sports composite rankings, Leavell ranks as the No. 604 overall player in the 2027 recruiting cycle, the No. 44 athlete nationally, and the No. 28 prospect in Tennessee.

With Leavell now on board, Tennessee’s 2027 recruiting class has grown to eight total commitments. Three of those pledges are projected defensive backs, including 3-star safety Jaden Butler and 3-star cornerback Carter Jamison.
