The Toronto Blue Jays are still searching for consistency in a season that has largely fallen short of expectations.
Injuries have taken a toll on the team’s starting rotation, forcing Toronto to navigate through constant pitching challenges.
Fortunately for the Blue Jays, reinforcements appear to be on the horizon.
Several key pitchers are progressing through rehab assignments, offering hope that the club’s rotation could soon receive a significant boost.
According to MLB.com’s Keegan Matheson, positive developments are finally emerging on the pitching front.
Max Scherzer took the mound for Triple-A Buffalo on Friday as part of his rehab process, following a start by Dylan Cease on Thursday.
Meanwhile, former Cy Young Award winner Shane Bieber is scheduled to continue the encouraging stretch with a rehab outing of his own.
Even with those potential returns, Toronto is expected to remain aggressive in its search for pitching help ahead of the trade deadline.

One of the biggest names linked to the Blue Jays is Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal.
USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported that rival executives believe Toronto is among four leading contenders for Skubal should Detroit decide to move the two-time Cy Young winner.
The other teams reportedly in the mix are the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, and San Diego Padres.
Any deal would likely require a substantial prospect package along with the ability to absorb the remainder of Skubal’s contract.
If Toronto is unable to land Skubal, alternative options could emerge. Sports Illustrated’s Patrick McAvoy suggested Milwaukee Brewers starter Freddy Peralta as another potential target.

Peralta, a former Cy Young finalist, would provide the Blue Jays with an experienced, high-impact arm capable of strengthening the rotation during a playoff push.
Since his $15 million contract expires after the season, he could be an appealing rental acquisition that would improve Toronto’s chances without creating a long-term financial obligation.
