Another Major Exit: “Rangers Shockingly Part Ways With Another Four-Year MLB Key Player During All-Star Break—Is This the Start of a Massive Team Overhaul?”

The Texas Rangers made a quiet roster move during the All-Star break, granting veteran infielder Jonah Bride his release and allowing him to become a free agent after spending the first half of the season with Triple-A Round Rock.

Bride, who signed a minor league contract with Texas last offseason, never received a call-up despite posting solid numbers in the Pacific Coast League.

The 30-year-old appeared in 80 games for Round Rock, batting .271 with a .389 on-base percentage, nine home runs, 16 doubles, 46 RBIs and an .807 OPS, showing enough offensive production to remain on the radar of clubs seeking infield depth.

Bride entered the Rangers organization hoping to revive his major league career after previous stints with the Oakland Athletics, Miami Marlins and Minnesota Twins.

Across four MLB seasons, he has appeared in more than 200 games, providing versatility at first base, third base and second base while compiling 12 career home runs.

However, Texas’ crowded infield and strong position in the American League West left little opportunity for him to crack the major league roster this season.

By granting Bride his release rather than keeping him in Triple-A, the Rangers have given the veteran a chance to pursue a major league opportunity elsewhere before the trade deadline.

Teams in need of experienced infield depth could view him as a low-risk addition, particularly given his strong Triple-A production and defensive flexibility.

The move also frees a roster spot in the Rangers’ minor league system as the organization prepares for the second half of the season and potential deadline acquisitions.
