The Colorado Rockies have claimed left-handed pitcher Hayden Harris off waivers from the Atlanta Braves, adding a high-strikeout arm to their pitching depth.
The move gives Colorado another intriguing bullpen option as the organization continues to evaluate young talent.
Atlanta designated Harris for assignment on September 2 to make room on its 40-man roster for Elieser Hernandez.
The 27-year-old originally joined the Braves as an undrafted free agent in July 2022 and reached the majors for the first time in September 2025, throwing 2⅔ innings while posting a 3.38 ERA.
Harris spent this season between Double-A and Triple-A, recording a 5.55 ERA and striking out 64 batters over 48⅔ innings.
While his ability to generate strikeouts remains one of his biggest strengths, an elevated walk rate has continued to hinder his development and prevented him from establishing himself at the major-league level.
The Rockies have optioned Harris directly to Triple-A Albuquerque, allowing him to remain on the 40-man roster while working on his command.
His dominant 2024 minor-league campaign, when he posted a 0.52 ERA with 79 strikeouts in 52 innings, showed the potential that once made him a notable pitching prospect in Atlanta’s system.
With Colorado focused heavily on development, a strong finish in Albuquerque could give Harris an opportunity to compete for a bullpen role during spring training.
