The New York Mets have released 18-year-old right-handed pitcher Arturo Sevilla from the organization, according to the MiLB.com transactions log.
The move was reportedly made before New York’s series against the Yankees, although the transaction did not appear on the official log until the series was already underway.
The Mets originally signed Sevilla to a minor-league contract on January 18, 2025. Born on November 15, 2007, in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico, Sevilla was assigned to the Dominican Summer League Mets Orange shortly after joining the organization.

Sevilla spent time on the Mets’ DSL roster during the 2026 season before being released. His development with the organization was interrupted when New York placed him on the 60-day injured list on July 6, 2025.
The Mets later activated him from the injured list on November 6, 2025. No publicly available statistics detail his time in the Mets system.

The release comes as the Mets continue to navigate a disappointing season. New York entered the Yankees series having won seven of its previous 10 games, including a three-game sweep of the Miami Marlins.
Despite the recent improvement, the Mets sit at 68-79 and are well out of the NL East race, trailing the Atlanta Braves by 18.5 games. New York also remains 11 games behind the San Diego Padres for the final NL Wild Card spot, leaving its postseason hopes hanging by a thread.
