After four unforgettable seasons in Columbia, standout placekicker Harrison Mevis has officially departed the Missouri Tigers program, closing the chapter on one of the most decorated special teams careers in school history. Known for his powerful leg and clutch kicking, Mevis now sets his sights on professional football after leaving a lasting legacy at Mizzou.
Mevis joined the Tigers in 2020 and quickly earned a reputation as one of the nation’s most reliable kickers. Over his collegiate career, he converted 89 of 106 field goal attempts and 148 of 149 extra points, racking up more than 400 total points for Missouri. His consistent performance and calmness under pressure made him a fan favorite and a trusted weapon for the Tigers coaching staff.
The high point of Mevis’s career came in 2023 when he drilled a 61-yard field goal to defeat No. 15 Kansas State as time expired. The kick not only earned him national recognition but also set a school record and further cemented his nickname, “The Thiccer Kicker,” due to his sturdy build and booming leg. It was a defining moment that symbolized his poise and talent.

Throughout his time at Missouri, Mevis earned several accolades, including First-Team All-American honors in 2021 and multiple All-SEC selections. His name now sits atop several school and conference leaderboards, reflecting the consistent excellence he brought to the field week after week. His contributions went far beyond the stat sheet, often swinging momentum with just one kick.
Mevis’s departure leaves a significant hole in Missouri’s special teams unit, and the coaching staff will now begin the process of finding his replacement. While competition for the starting job is expected to be open during the offseason, filling Mevis’s shoes—both literally and figuratively—will be no small task for the Tigers.
As he moves on to chase his professional dreams, Mevis leaves behind a Missouri program grateful for his contributions and proud of his achievements. Whether in the NFL or elsewhere, his strong leg and even stronger legacy ensure that his time as a Tiger won’t be forgotten anytime soon.
