Missouri football has added a familiar face to its front office, announcing the hiring of Jake Breske as president of player personnel and recruiting. The announcement comes as the program searches for continuity following offensive coordinator Kirby Moore’s departure.
Breske most recently spent five seasons at Tennessee, overseeing player personnel and recruiting operations, but this move marks a return to Columbia, where he previously worked in Missouri’s recruiting department from 2016 to 2021. During that time, he spent three years as director of recruiting and one year working under head coach Eli Drinkwitz.
“I am thrilled to return to Mizzou and help Coach Drinkwitz continue to build a championship-caliber program,” Breske said. “The momentum the Tigers have built over the past six years is remarkable, and I am excited and humbled to have the chance to contribute to that success.”
Drinkwitz, whose recent contract extension added $4 million for staff expansion, said Breske brings extensive experience and a strong reputation in talent evaluation and organized recruiting operations. While not a coaching role, Breske’s position will be crucial in enhancing Missouri’s recruiting strategies and supporting the Tigers’ long-term program goals.
The job description for Missouri’s “chief recruiting officer” outlined key responsibilities including recruiting strategy and player evaluation (35%), recruiting operations and visit coordination (25%), administrative management (15%), branding and external engagement (10%), program support (10%), and other duties (5%).
“This is a big win for Mizzou,” Drinkwitz said. “Jake spent six years here before his time at Tennessee and returns ready to lead our player personnel and recruiting departments. His background in both college and high school coaching, combined with his expertise in recruitment, makes him a perfect fit.”
Breske’s hire is the second front-office addition to Drinkwitz’s staff in 2025, following the earlier appointment of Gaurav Verma as director of football strategy and finance in August.
The move underscores Missouri’s commitment to strengthening its recruiting infrastructure and ensuring the Tigers remain competitive in the SEC under Drinkwitz’s leadership.
