Star EDGE Dylan Stewart has confirmed he will return to South Carolina for his junior season in 2026, strengthening the Gamecocks’ defense.
Stewart, an All-SEC linebacker, recently signed a revenue-sharing/NIL agreement with South Carolina, making him one of the highest-paid players in college football. He announced the decision publicly on Instagram, drawing widespread attention from fans and media alike.
The 6-foot-5, 250-pound defender has been a dominant force since joining the program, totaling 56 tackles, 11 sacks, and six forced fumbles in 24 career games. He has also generated 88 quarterback pressures over two seasons. A former five-star recruit, Stewart was ranked among the top prospects nationally in the 2024 class by Rivals and ESPN.
Stewart’s return follows quarterback LaNorris Sellers also confirming his decision to play in 2026, providing continuity at two key positions despite the Gamecocks’ 4-8 finish last season.
Even amid speculation and the departure of his position coach to LSU under Lane Kiffin, Stewart is expected to remain with South Carolina through the end of his college career. He continues to be regarded as a projected top-10 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
