MAJOR BOOST: A revitalized Alec Bohm could be a major factor in Philadelphia’s 2026 campaign

PHILADELPHIA — Phillies manager Rob Thomson opened the 2025 season with a familiar-looking lineup. On Opening Day, Trea Turner led off, followed by Bryce Harper, Alec Bohm, and Kyle Schwarber in the cleanup spot

That order didn’t last long. Just 13 games into the season, Thomson made a notable adjustment, moving Harper to third and Schwarber to fourth. It marked the first time the two left-handed power hitters batted back-to-back. Schwarber stayed behind Harper until Harper landed on the injured list on June 7.

When Harper returned on June 30, the lineup looked different again. This time, Harper hit behind Schwarber for the remainder of the season, signaling another shift in the Phillies’ offensive approach.

Speaking earlier this month at the Winter Meetings in Orlando, Thomson suggested the lineup could change once more in 2026. He indicated he is considering moving Schwarber back behind Harper—but nothing has been finalized.
“I’ve got some ideas,” Thomson said. “But I haven’t talked to the players yet. I don’t want to say too much about it. I’ve definitely spent a lot of time thinking it through.”

The potential reshuffling highlights how important next season could be for players like Alec Bohm, whose return to top form may play a key role in shaping the Phillies’ 2026 plans.
