The East Carolina Pirates landed a significant recruiting boost for their 2027 class after 4-star quarterback Sione Kaho made a bold declaration of interest in the program, giving Pirate Nation plenty of reason to smile as the offseason unfolds.

Kaho, a standout from Lincoln High School in Washington, is rated as the 16th‑best quarterback in the 2027 class by 247Sports and has drawn interest from several Power Five programs, including Oregon, Cal, and Stanford. However, he made it clear that ECU is firmly near the top of his recruitment list, signaling growing momentum for the Pirates as they build toward future seasons.

The talented signal‑caller has already made multiple visits to the ECU campus, attending games and meeting extensively with the coaching staff to gain a deeper understanding of the Pirates’ offensive philosophy. Kaho described his interactions with the staff and time in Greenville as “great experiences,” noting that they helped solidify his strong connection to the program.

Leading the Pirates through his first full season as head coach is Blake Harrell, who was officially named East Carolina’s 23rd head coach on Nov. 27, 2024 after serving as interim head coach and longtime defensive coordinator. Harrell guided the Pirates to a 9‑4 record in 2025, including a Military Bowl victory, marking sustained progress for the program.

In addition to his rapport with the coaching staff, Kaho has begun engaging with current ECU commits in the 2027 class, emphasizing the strong culture and camaraderie within the Pirates’ recruiting cycle. At 6‑foot‑3 and around 210 pounds, Kaho describes himself as a game manager with playmaking ability in crucial moments, drawing inspiration from top collegiate quarterbacks like Drake Maye and CJ Stroud and incorporating aspects of their games into his own.

As for his timeline, Kaho said he’s aiming to make a commitment in June 2026, though he hinted that circumstances could change, suggesting that fans should stay tuned for potential early developments.

With Kaho expressing a clear and enthusiastic interest in ECU, the Pirates have not only added a highly ranked quarterback to their recruiting radar but also underscored their ability to compete for elite talent both regionally and nationally. His interest represents a potential cornerstone for the 2027 recruiting class — and a major reason for East Carolina fans to look ahead with excitement.
