Zyon Guiles, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive tackle from Carvers Bay High School, officially committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks and is poised to make an immediate impact on the team’s offensive line. The freshman reunites with new offensive line coach Randy Clements, who first recruited him while coaching at UNC from 2022 to 2024.
“I’m excited to be back with Coach Clements,” Guiles said after confirming his commitment. “He knows the game inside and out, and I’m ready to show what I can do at South Carolina.”
Guiles, a four-star prospect and the top interior lineman nationally according to Rivals and On3, joins a trio of high school signees addressing a critical need for the Gamecocks. With six offensive linemen entering the transfer portal, Guiles’ arrival strengthens a position that struggled last season.

Head coach Shane Beamer praised Guiles and the other freshmen linemen, calling them “immensely talented” and “future team captain types.” The program has a history of freshmen contributing immediately, including Josiah Thompson and Shed Sarratt, and Guiles is expected to follow in their footsteps.
“When you watch the tape, we’re nasty on the field,” Guiles said. “We’ve got a lot to learn and need to get stronger, but in the next couple of years, we can be those guys up front.”
Guiles will enroll early in January and is expected to compete for significant playing time in the upcoming season.
