The New York Giants have officially added a major piece to their offensive rebuild, selecting Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate in the 2026 NFL Draft to bolster their passing game and accelerate the development of quarterback Jaxson Dart.
After evaluating their options at the top of the draft, the Giants made it clear they are fully committed to Dart as their franchise quarterback. Rather than resetting at the position, New York focused on surrounding the young signal-caller with elite playmakers capable of producing immediately.
Dart showed encouraging signs during his rookie season, completing 63.5 percent of his passes for 2,042 yards, 13 touchdowns, and five interceptions in 11 starts. His poise and efficiency convinced the Giants’ front office that the next step forward was upgrading the talent around him.
That upgrade comes in the form of Tate, one of the most polished receivers in college football. Known for his precise route running, strong hands, and ability to consistently create separation, Tate fits perfectly into a timing-based passing offense. His presence gives Dart a dependable target who can win on short and intermediate routes while also providing big-play potential.
Tate enjoyed a breakout 2025 season at Ohio State, finishing with 51 receptions for 875 yards and nine touchdowns while lining up opposite star receiver Jeremiah Smith. His production, combined with his NFL-ready skill set, made him a top target for teams seeking an immediate offensive contributor.
While selecting a wide receiver with a premium draft pick always carries risk, the Giants believe Tate’s upside and readiness justify the investment. New York’s offense struggled with consistency last season, and Tate’s arrival adds both explosiveness and reliability to the passing attack.
By pairing Carnell Tate with Jaxson Dart, the Giants have sent a clear message: the franchise is all-in on building a modern, dynamic offense, with the goal of making a significant leap forward in 2026.
