South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer confirms immidiate player dismissal from team with comment

A South Carolina defensive lineman has been dismissed from the team following a recent arrest, according to a university spokesperson.

The player was taken into custody Tuesday on a felony charge of possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

 

Authorities said deputies initiated a traffic stop near Williams-Brice Stadium due to an improper vehicle tag display and a window tint violation.

During the stop, officers reported detecting the smell of marijuana, which led to a search of the vehicle.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department stated that approximately 20 individually packaged bags of a substance believed to be marijuana were discovered inside the vehicle.

Deputies also found a firearm, which was seized because of its proximity to the narcotics.

The player was briefly held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center before posting bond later that day. By Wednesday morning, he was no longer listed as being in custody.

A redshirt senior, the 22-year-old had transferred from Bowling Green Falcons footballand played the 2025 season under head coach Shane Beamer.

He appeared in 11 games, recording six tackles and one tackle for loss in a reserve role.

Earlier in the season, he was among three players suspended for violating team standards, though details were not disclosed.

Shortly after the dismissal was announced, the defensive tackle released a public apology on social media, accepting responsibility for his actions.

He acknowledged that his behavior did not meet the expectations of a student-athlete and expressed regret to fans, teammates, and coaches, including defensive line coach Travian Robertson.

He stated that he respects the program’s decision and called the incident a turning point in his life, pledging to work daily to ensure the situation does not define his future.

It remains uncertain whether he will continue his college football career elsewhere in 2026.
