Pitcher Brett Banks, a 2023 11th-round selection by the New York Mets, has reportedly retired voluntarily, according to his official transactions record.

The 24-year-old right-hander had been off to a strong start in 2026, tossing scoreless innings over his first three outings with the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Mets’ Class-A affiliate, before stepping away from the game.

Over his minor league career from 2023 to 2026, Banks appeared in 53 games in the Mets system, posting a 7–1 record with an impressive 2.47 ERA, showing steady development as he climbed through the organization.

Despite being a late-round draft pick, Banks earned attention within the Mets organization, including an Arizona Fall League stint and a brief look in major league spring training, where he impressed with scoreless outings against big league hitters before ultimately choosing to retire.
