Return Alert: Philadelphia Phillies Manager Don Mattingly DROPS BOMBSHELL CONFIRMATION AS STRUGGLING STAR RETURNS TO LINEUP AMID INTENSE SCRUTINY AND MOUNTING PRESSURE ON THE CLUB

One of the biggest concerns for the Philadelphia Phillies has been the major slump of third baseman Alec Bohm, who is hitting just .159 on the season and was recently benched due to his struggles at the plate.

For the series finale against the Athletics, Bohm was left out of the lineup, with utility infielder Edmundo Sosa starting at third base instead.

However, interim manager Don Mattingly later confirmed that Bohm is expected to return to the lineup the following day.

Alec Bohm comments on slow start to 2025

The 2026 season has been extremely difficult for Bohm both on and off the field. He began the year as the Phillies’ cleanup hitter but quickly lost that role after a poor start, eventually being dropped lower in the order while players like Brandon Marsh moved ahead of him.

His offensive production has continued to decline, with extremely low batting, on-base, and slugging numbers.

Advanced metrics also highlight his struggles, showing weak contact quality and some of the worst expected offensive numbers among qualified hitters this season.

With free agency approaching after the year, his poor performance is raising concerns about his long-term value.

Meanwhile, the Phillies themselves have turned their season around slightly after a slow start and a managerial change, but Bohm’s situation remains uncertain.

If he cannot recover his form soon, the team could eventually consider replacing him at third base or exploring trade options before the deadline.
