The Auburn Tigers coaching staff continues shaping its roster for head coach Steven Pearl as the program builds toward his second season, with the NCAA Transfer Portal officially closing on April 21.
A key development came when former Vanderbilt Commodores guard George Kimble III announced his commitment to Auburn, arriving just a day after a late switch sent Sebastian Williams-Adams to Vanderbilt. Kimble becomes the first guard addition for Auburn out of the portal this cycle.

Kimble’s journey includes stops at Eckerd College, Eastern Kentucky, and Vanderbilt, with a strong scoring season at EKU where he averaged 18 points per game during the 2024–25 campaign. Although he missed the following season due to injury, he brings proven offensive production and experience across multiple programs.

With returning guards Tahaad Pettiford, Kevin Overton, and Simon Walker already in place, Kimble is expected to provide backcourt depth and rotational support rather than a primary starting role.
In a separate development just before the portal closed, 7-foot center Emeka Opurum entered the transfer portal after appearing in only six games last season.

He had been sidelined in December due to an undisclosed medical issue, with the program choosing not to comment publicly out of privacy concerns.
Opurum, who previously played in the NBA Africa program and at Butler Community College, now departs as Auburn has recently strengthened its frontcourt through the addition of multiple big men, including Bukky Oboye, Narcisse Ngoye, and Owen Freeman.
