The Philadelphia Phillies are starting to play some of their best baseball of the season and are quickly climbing back toward the .500 mark.
After a frustrating start to the year, Philadelphia has gradually turned things around. A big victory on Thursday night over the Boston Red Sox and Ranger Suárez marked the team’s fifth consecutive series win, giving the Phillies plenty of momentum moving forward.
Although there is still work left to do, the club appears to have found its rhythm since Don Mattingly took over, which is an encouraging sign for a roster that entered the 2026 season with expectations of competing near the top of the National League behind its experienced core.
As the Phillies continue their push back into contention, they are expected to explore upgrades in several areas. Even with their recent success, offensive inconsistency remains an issue.
One major concern has been the outfield production. Outside of Brandon Marsh, the Phillies have not received much offensive impact from the group. Because of that, adding another proven power bat in the outfield could become a priority, and a reunion with former No. 1 overall pick Mickey Moniak may be an intriguing option.
Reunion With Mickey Moniak Could Be a Strong Fit
Despite struggling early in his career with Philadelphia, Moniak has developed into a productive player with the Colorado Rockies. During the 2025 season, he enjoyed a breakout campaign, hitting .270/.306/.518 with 24 home runs and 68 RBI across 135 games.
He has continued that strong play this year as well. Through 36 games, Moniak is batting .308/.355/.677 with 12 home runs and 26 RBI. While playing in Colorado often raises questions about home and road splits, Moniak has still posted an OPS close to .800 away from Coors Field, showing he can remain productive outside of Denver.
The 28-year-old is also under team control through next season before reaching free agency, which could increase his trade value somewhat. Even though Philadelphia may prefer a right-handed power hitter, Moniak could still provide a major offensive spark and give the lineup another dangerous bat.
