Just In: Another Big Loss for North Carolina? Just When Things Looked Stable, North Carolina Suffers Another Painful Loss With Key Player Departure

Two North Carolina players have departed the program following the end of spring practice, a team spokesperson confirmed Tuesday.

Wide receiver Shenard Clower and defensive back Ty Adams are no longer included on the Tar Heels’ 2026 roster.

Clower, a former three-star recruit from Lakeland, Florida, was preparing for his sophomore season after playing in nine games and making three starts as a true freshman. He finished the year with 12 receptions for 98 yards and totaled 192 all-purpose yards.

His best outing came in North Carolina’s Sept. 20 loss to UCF, where he recorded four catches for 34 yards.

Adams, a former three-star prospect from Swainsboro, Georgia, leaves the program before his redshirt junior season.

He appeared in six games during the 2025 campaign, including matchups against Charlotte, Richmond, Clemson, Wake Forest, Duke, and NC State.

In 2024, Adams played in 10 games as a redshirt freshman for the Tar Heels.

North Carolina concluded its second spring practice period under Bill Belichick on April 24 and will open the 2026 season against TCU in Ireland on Aug. 29.
