Shocking MLB Development: Disaster Strikes Texas Again as Rangers Place Another Important Player on IL Following Scary and Potentially Career-Ending Injury News

The Texas Rangers will once again be without shortstop Corey Seager, who was placed on the seven-day concussion injured list after suffering a head injury in a home-plate collision earlier in the week against the Kansas City Royals.

Although he initially stayed in the game and even hit a home run, Seager later missed the weekend series against the Boston Red Sox before the team officially made the roster move.

In a corresponding transaction, infielder Josh Smith was activated from the injured list.

This marks Seager’s second IL stint of the season after previously missing nearly three weeks with lower back inflammation.

He had just returned in early June but managed only five games before landing back on the sidelines as he works through concussion symptoms.

His absence is another setback for a Rangers team trying to stay in the AL playoff race despite an uneven season, especially since Seager has struggled offensively, hitting just .186 with nine home runs and a .657 OPS across 47 games.

The team has not provided a timeline beyond the minimum seven days, which is standard for concussion-related injuries, and the move was retroactive to Friday.

Meanwhile, Josh Smith returns after dealing with multiple health issues earlier in the year, including a strained glute, wrist inflammation, and viral meningitis symptoms.

He appeared in Monday’s loss to the Minnesota Twins as a pinch hitter and is hitting .215 with limited production in 32 games this season.
