The Texas Rangers made a roster move on Sunday, placing outfielder Wyatt Langford on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain after he was scratched shortly before Saturday’s 7-4 victory over the Blue Jays.
In a corresponding move, Texas reinstated outfielder Evan Carter from the injured list.
Manager Skip Schumaker said the injury surfaced just before first pitch, prompting the club to act cautiously rather than risk making the issue worse.
The setback comes not long after Langford returned from a lengthy absence caused by a right forearm strain that sidelined him for 39 games between April and June.
Since rejoining the lineup, the young outfielder had been one of Texas’ hottest hitters, batting .317 with seven home runs over 20 games while boosting his season average to .278 and raising his OPS to a season-best .824.
Unfortunately, injuries have become a recurring challenge for Langford. The current hamstring issue marks his sixth trip to the injured list in just over two major league seasons, following multiple oblique injuries in 2025 and another hamstring strain during his rookie campaign in 2024.

Meanwhile, Carter returns after missing 14 games with a right oblique strain suffered on a diving catch in Boston on June 12. He looked healthy during a brief rehab assignment at Double-A Frisco, going 2-for-2 with a home run and a walk.
Carter has appeared in 66 games for the Rangers this season, hitting .176 with six homers, 21 RBIs, and a perfect 10-for-10 record on stolen-base attempts.
