The Texas Rangers announced Sunday that outfielder Wyatt Langford has been placed on the injured list with a left hamstring strain.
In a corresponding move, the club reinstated outfielder Evan Carter from the injured list.
After a sluggish start to the season and a previous absence caused by a right forearm injury, Langford had recently found his stride at the plate.

Across 40 games and 173 plate appearances, he has posted a strong .278/.324/.500 slash line while compiling 1.7 bWAR, production that projects to an elite level over a full season. The Rangers have not yet provided a timetable for his return.

Carter has been sidelined since suffering an injury while making a diving catch in Boston on June 12. The young outfielder looked ready to return after a brief rehab assignment with Double-A Frisco, where he went 2-for-2 with a home run and a walk on Friday.

He may have remained with Frisco a bit longer, but Langford’s injury appears to have accelerated his return to the major league roster.
