The Texas Rangers have officially signed their top three selections from the 2026 MLB Draft, securing first-round pick Gio Rojas, second-round pick Connor Comeau, and third-round pick Brody Bumila.
The organization announced the signings and said the three prospects will be introduced during a press conference at Globe Life Field on Tuesday afternoon. While contract details were not disclosed by the club, reported bonus figures indicate Texas invested heavily to bring its top draft class into the system.
Rangers Spend Aggressively on Top Prospects
Rojas, the No. 16 overall pick, was assigned a slot value of approximately $5.05 million. According to MLB Pipeline, the left-handed pitcher signed for $4.6 million, slightly below slot value. The savings allowed the Rangers additional flexibility to pursue other draft selections.
Much of that flexibility appears to have gone toward Bumila, a towering 6-foot-9 right-hander selected 89th overall. His draft slot carried a value of roughly $900,000, but reports indicate he agreed to a deal worth $2.75 million.
Bumila was viewed by many evaluators as first-round talent before an elbow injury shortened his senior season, and the Rangers reportedly paid a premium to convince him to forgo his college commitment.
Comeau, chosen No. 54 overall, also received an above-slot bonus. His pick carried a slot value of $1.81 million, but MLB Pipeline reported he signed for $2.5 million.
Impressive High School Résumés
Rojas, 19, dominated during his senior season at Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, posting an 11-1 record with a remarkable 0.58 ERA, 124 strikeouts, and just 17 walks while helping lead his team to another state championship. He also gained international experience with Team USA and earned recognition as an All-World Starting Pitcher at the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup.
Comeau starred at Anderson High School in Austin, Texas, where he hit .512 as a senior with 28 RBIs and 19 extra-base hits. The left-handed-hitting infielder also participated in the 2025 Canadian Futures Showcase due to family ties to Canada.
Bumila, 18, enjoyed a standout senior campaign at Bishop Feehan High School in Massachusetts, going 6-0 with a 1.10 ERA and 106 strikeouts. He threw a 20-strikeout no-hitter and excelled in basketball as well, helping his school capture a state title. His achievements earned him both MaxPreps Male National Athlete of the Year honors and Gatorade Massachusetts Baseball Player of the Year recognition.
By locking up all three selections, the Rangers have secured a highly regarded draft class that could play a significant role in the organization’s future.
