Breaking News: White Sox Rocked by Sudden Exit of Another Key Player with Season-Ending Injury—Out for 6 to 12 Weeks, This Shocking Blow Threatens to Shatter Their Championship Dreams and Leaves Fans Heartbroken!

Chicago White Sox catcher Kyle Teel is facing an extended absence after suffering a left ankle injury during Monday’s game against the Texas Rangers.

Before Tuesday night’s matchup, White Sox manager Will Venable said Teel was still undergoing evaluation but is expected to miss between six and 12 weeks with what appears to be a high ankle sprain. The club placed the 24-year-old on the 10-day injured list and promoted catcher Edgar Quero from Triple-A Charlotte to take his roster spot.

Teel was injured in the second inning of Chicago’s 10-3 win over Texas while attempting to apply a tag at home plate. He was unable to put weight on the ankle as he left the field and was replaced by Drew Romo.

The injury is another setback in a difficult season for Teel, who has appeared in only 19 games due to previous hamstring and knee issues, including an earlier stay on the 60-day injured list. He is batting .190 with two home runs and 14 RBIs this season after hitting .273 with eight homers and 35 RBIs in 78 games during his rookie campaign.

Venable expressed optimism that Teel’s age and physical condition could help speed up his recovery, though the organization expects him to be sidelined for a considerable period.

A former first-round pick selected 14th overall by the Boston Red Sox in 2023, Teel joined Chicago as part of the four-prospect package acquired in the December 2024 trade that sent ace Garrett Crochet to Boston.

To help fill the void, the White Sox recalled 22-year-old switch-hitting catcher Edgar Quero, who made his major league debut last season. Quero appeared in 55 big-league games this year before being optioned to Triple-A in June and will now get another opportunity behind the plate for the AL Central leaders.
