Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens reportedly considered requesting a trade but ultimately chose to remain with the team, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Fowler explained on NFL Live that Pickens “flirted with a trade request” but ultimately decided he wanted to stay in Pittsburgh, citing his admiration for head coach Mike Tomlin.
While the Steelers received trade inquiries about Pickens prior to the NFL Draft — including interest from the Dallas Cowboys — the team opted not to move him. With the draft concluded, Pickens appears set to continue his role in Pittsburgh.

Now entering the final year of his rookie contract, Pickens is expected to pair with DK Metcalf to form a dynamic wide receiver duo. Steelers GM Omar Khan recently affirmed the team’s commitment to both receivers, saying, “We’re glad we have George and DK here. I think they’re going to be exciting for everyone to watch.”
Pickens, who missed three games due to a hamstring injury, still finished the 2024 season with 59 receptions for 900 yards, averaging 15.3 yards per catch. Despite the missed time, he has maintained back-to-back seasons with over 900 yards and 15+ yards per reception, making him a key piece in Pittsburgh’s offense.
