The Los Angeles Dodgers parted ways with several veteran players this offseason, including second baseman Gavin Lux.
In other updates: An MLB insider has shared news regarding a possible trade involving Nolan Arenado and potential interest from the Dodgers.
Lux, a longtime member of the Dodgers, was dealt to the Cincinnati Reds in January shortly after L.A. signed Korean infielder Hyeseong Kim. Since joining the Reds, the 27-year-old seems to be thriving. Recently, Lux briefly led the National League with a .352 batting average. Heading into Saturday, he’s batting .317 with an .836 OPS—numbers that would mark career bests if maintained through the season.

Despite his recent success, Lux told NBC 5’s Charlie Clifford that his swing doesn’t feel perfect at the moment. “It’s more about going into compete mode and focusing on my approach,” he explained.
When asked the last time he had this much fun playing baseball, Lux said it hadn’t happened since high school. “This is a fun group. Everyone gets along, it’s a young team. It’s exciting to come to the field every day,” he said.
Lux spent six seasons with the Dodgers and admitted he was caught off guard by the trade, especially after such a long tenure. Still, he seems to be embracing the change and flourishing with his new team.
“You don’t really expect it after being somewhere that long,” he said of the trade. “But it’s part of the business. I think the Dodgers did right by me—sending me somewhere with a winning mindset, where I can contribute.”
