Breaking News: Chicago Blackhawks Lock In the Return of Rising Star Defenseman

The Chicago Blackhawks are expected to play a new style under head coach Jeff Blashill next season, which could work in favor of towering defenseman Louis Crevier.

Drafted in the seventh round (188th overall) in 2020, the 6’8” Crevier has the physical tools to be a shutdown presence on the blue line.

He leads all players taken in that draft round in games played (56) over the last two seasons and earned another contract after posting 3 goals and 4 points in 32 games this past season while averaging 17:17 of ice time.

Crevier often paired with Alex Vlasic to form a reliable, physically imposing defensive duo. Like Vlasic, Crevier has shown the potential to use his size and reach to shut down opposing offenses.

Though currently a restricted free agent, Crevier’s strong development suggests he deserves another shot. Despite the Hawks’ deep pool of defensive prospects, GM Kyle Davidson should consider bringing him back, as Crevier fits their growing identity of size and defensive reliability on the back end.
