The New York Giants have shown a keen interest in Colorado wide receiver Will Sheppard, who was a teammate of quarterback Shedeur Sanders and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, as they prepare for the 2025 NFL Draft.
According to KPRC 2 NFL insider Aaron Wilson, Sheppard, who stands at 6-3 and weighs 204 pounds, is set to have a dinner meeting with the Giants staff. This follows the team’s visit to Colorado for the pro day on April 4, where Sanders, Hunter, and Sheppard showcased their skills.
While Sheppard is not as high-profile as Hunter, he is still regarded as a strong draft prospect. Sheppard finished his collegiate career with 200 receptions, 2,688 receiving yards, and 27 touchdowns. After transferring to Colorado from Vanderbilt, he registered 48 catches for 621 yards and six touchdowns in his senior season.

Sheppard may not be the top receiver on Colorado’s roster, but he is seen as a polished and versatile prospect. According to The Draft Network’s Dame Parson, Sheppard is a “savvy” receiver who excels in route-running, alignment versatility, and as a red-zone and chain-moving threat. NFL Draft Buzz scout Lennox Tate also noted Sheppard’s solid skills, calling him a “solid Day 2 prospect with immediate contribution potential,” though he may start as a WR2 or WR3 in the NFL.
Given that the Giants already have rising star Malik Nabers in their offense, adding a receiver like Sheppard could be a valuable addition. Tate emphasized that Sheppard’s polished route-running and football IQ would make him an intriguing option for teams looking to boost their receiving corps.
Despite the Giants’ interest in Sheppard, Shedeur Sanders stole the spotlight during Colorado’s pro day. Sanders completed 62 of 67 passes, including a standout deep ball to wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr., which further enhanced his draft stock. Sanders’ accuracy in the short and intermediate passing game was particularly impressive, and Hunter also impressed with his crisp route running.
The Giants could potentially select Sanders or Hunter with the third overall pick if they remain available. In that case, drafting Sheppard later would provide the added benefit of familiarity with his former teammates. Along with Giants GM Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll, other NFL executives, including from the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, and Denver Broncos, were present at Colorado’s pro day.
