All-Star shortstop Francisco Lindor was placed on the 10-day injured list by the New York Mets on Thursday after suffering a left calf strain, with manager Carlos Mendoza indicating he could be sidelined for an extended period.
The injury occurred during Wednesday’s 3-2 win over Minnesota, which snapped the Mets’ 12-game losing streak—their longest since 2002. In that game, Juan Soto returned from his own right calf strain, going 1-for-3 with a walk after missing 15 games. However, tests later revealed Lindor’s injury is more serious than Soto’s.

Lindor was hurt while aggressively running the bases, scoring from first on a double by Francisco Álvarez. He showed visible discomfort rounding third but still managed to beat the throw with a feet-first slide.

He later explained he felt something in his lower leg mid-run and knew immediately something wasn’t right.

Despite the pain, Lindor was determined to score, saying afterward that staying off the field is frustrating but he trusts the team’s medical staff and is confident he’ll return this season.
This marks only the third injured list stint of Lindor’s career. To fill the gap, Bo Bichette shifted to shortstop, while the Mets called up Ronny Mauricio from Triple-A Syracuse, where he had been on a hot streak, hitting five home runs in his last five games.
