The Philadelphia Phillies have built much of their recent success on strong organizational depth, with several under-the-radar players stepping into important supporting roles during the club’s pursuit of a World Series title.
As Philadelphia continues battling near the top of the National League standings, many former contributors have moved on to other organizations, hoping to establish themselves in new opportunities across Major League Baseball.

One of those former Phillies players, utility man Weston Wilson, has now encountered another setback in his career journey after a brief stint with the Baltimore Orioles.

According to reports, the Orioles designated Wilson for assignment to make room for catcher Sam Huff, who was promoted from Triple-A Norfolk and added to both the active and 40-man rosters.
Wilson joined Baltimore shortly after departing Philadelphia, where he spent parts of three seasons developing into a versatile depth option capable of playing multiple positions while occasionally providing power at the plate.
The 31-year-old appeared in 100 games for the Phillies and posted a .242 batting average with a .328 on-base percentage and .428 slugging percentage, collecting 20 extra-base hits during his tenure.

One of the most memorable moments of his career came in August 2024 when he hit for the cycle against the Washington Nationals, becoming the first rookie in franchise history to accomplish the feat.
After being claimed by Baltimore before the season, Wilson appeared in 19 games and recorded a .231/.348/.333 slash line across 39 at-bats before being removed from the roster.
He will now either be claimed by another club or clear waivers as he searches for the next chapter of his professional career.
