The Philadelphia Phillies were dealt a significant setback last week when outfielder Adolis Garcia was placed on the 60-day injured list with a lat tear, creating an urgent need for a right-handed bat in the outfield.
With no clear timetable for Garcia’s return, Philadelphia may be forced to turn to the trade market sooner rather than later.
One potential solution could come from the Los Angeles Angels in the form of outfielder Jo Adell.
Although Adell has not replicated the breakout numbers he posted in 2025, he has remained a frequent subject of trade speculation and appears to fit exactly what the Phillies are seeking.

Reports have already linked Philadelphia to the 27-year-old as the club searches for reinforcements in right field.
Adell’s biggest appeal lies in his ability to hit left-handed pitching. This season, he has excelled against southpaws, posting a .325 batting average with a .949 OPS.
While his defense has drawn criticism at times, he has been serviceable in the outfield and continues to provide value with his power and offensive upside.
The Phillies have struggled badly against left-handed pitching in 2026, ranking near the bottom of the league in several offensive categories.
Garcia’s injury only magnifies that weakness, making Adell an increasingly attractive trade target.
From the Angels’ perspective, Adell remains a valuable asset. He is still in his prime, has another year of team control beyond this season, and is not far removed from a 37-home run campaign.

That gives Los Angeles leverage in any negotiations, particularly if Philadelphia becomes desperate to fill its outfield vacancy.
The biggest obstacle may be the Phillies’ farm system. Top prospects Aidan Miller and Gage Wood could be considered too valuable to move for Adell, forcing both teams to explore alternative prospect packages.
Pitching prospect Moisés Chace, among others, could emerge as a more realistic centerpiece in discussions.
If the two clubs can agree on a fair return, Philadelphia may represent the ideal trade partner for Los Angeles, while Adell could provide the immediate offensive boost the Phillies desperately need.
