Former Atlanta Braves outfielder Stuart Fairchild has landed with a new organization after signing a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners.
The move was confirmed through MLB’s official transactions tracker after Fairchild elected free agency following his departure from the Cleveland Guardians organization earlier this month.
Fairchild spent part of the 2025 season with the Atlanta Braves after being acquired from the Cincinnati Reds. Although his stint in Atlanta was brief, he provided outfield depth before being designated for assignment and later traded to the Tampa Bay Rays.

He eventually signed a minor league deal with Cleveland ahead of the 2026 campaign, earning another opportunity in the majors during the season.
After being designated for assignment by Cleveland in late June, Fairchild cleared waivers and elected free agency on July 3. Seattle moved quickly to add the veteran outfielder, signing him to a minor league contract on July 5.

According to MLB’s transaction log, he has since been assigned to the Mariners’ Arizona Complex League affiliate as he begins his latest stint with the organization.
The signing marks a return to familiar territory for Fairchild, who previously spent time in the Mariners organization during the 2022 season after arriving in a trade from the Arizona Diamondbacks.

While his first stay in Seattle was brief, the Mariners are hoping his experience and defensive versatility can strengthen their organizational depth as the second half of the season approaches.
For Seattle, the addition carries little financial risk but could provide valuable insurance if the club needs outfield reinforcements later this year.
Fairchild has played for multiple major league organizations throughout his career and brings speed, defensive flexibility, and experience that could help him work his way back to the majors if he performs well in the minors.
