With only one series left before the All-Star break, the Atlanta Braves continue to shuffle their roster as they prepare for a matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Atlanta has been one of the most active teams in baseball when it comes to roster moves this season, and that trend continued this week with several transactions, including the departure of veteran outfielder José Azócar.
The Braves reinstated outfielder Eli White from the paternity list and designated Azócar for assignment.
Azócar had appeared in just one game since being called back to the major league roster. Now in DFA status, he could be claimed by another club, traded, or clear waivers and accept an outright assignment to the minors. The 29-year-old has spent parts of five seasons in the big leagues.
Atlanta followed that move with another roster adjustment ahead of the Cardinals series, activating right-hander Tyler Kinley from the paternity list while optioning right-handed pitcher Hurston Waldrep to Triple-A Gwinnett.

The steady stream of pitching-related transactions reflects the Braves’ ongoing effort to stabilize their staff as younger arms continue to navigate the challenges of a long major league season.
Despite the constant roster turnover, Atlanta remains in a strong position heading into the break.
The Braves own a 54-38 record and continue to lead the National League East by three games, giving them momentum as they close out the first half of the season.
